Medhu Vadai / Ulundu Vadai




Urad Dal            1 cup

Rice flour           2 tbsp

Onion                 1 No

Green chilli         2 - 3 No

Ginger              1 tbsp

Curry leaves  

Coriander leaves

Salt to Taste

Oil for frying


Soak urad dal for about 2 -3 hours.

Grind it as smooth paste by adding little water. Mix rice flour with small amount of water to make a paste.( It will give the crispness to vadai outer)

Along with urad dal mix rice paste , green chilli ,onion ,Ginger,curry leaves , salt and curry leaves.After adding onion we should fry it immediately. Otherwise batter will become watery.

In a bowl of water wet your fingers in it , take a small lemon sized batter and flatten it on a plastic sheet or in your palm. Now transfer the flattened vadai in to oil gently.

Fry on both sides till it turns golden brown.
