Milagai Killi Potta Sambar

After long gap resuming to blogging. Millagi Killi Potta sambar is ever time favorite sambar.
 Its a easy cook  sambar. My grandma used to make this sambar often , smell of it makes me hungry when it starts boiling itself.



Toor Dal                       3/4 cup

Red chilli                      3 Nos

Garlic                           5 -6 pods (Crushed)

Onion                           1 meduim

Tomato                        1 medium

Tamarind                     small Marble size

Turmeric Powder       1/2 tsp

Mustard seeds            1 tsp

Pepper                        1/2 tsp

Curry Leaves           1-2 Strands

Coriander Leaves     For Garnish

Hing                          a pinch

Salt to taste


Wash toor dal and pressure cook it for 3 -4 hisses.Extract tamarind juice. 

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seed,once splutter add curry leaves,hing,red chillies,garlic and pepper one by one.

Add onions and saute well. Add Tomato ,small amount of salt and turmeric powder and cook until tomatoes are mushy.

Now add cooked dal , tamarind juice and required amount of salt and water. Let it boil for 5-10 mintues.

Add chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Serve with hot rice
