Appalam Kootu


Appalam Kootu is a simple and easy to make recipe. I like to add fired appalam in any kootu , but it has been long i cooked this appala kootu.I don't have any vegetables in my fridge, so thinking about what to cook today suddenly this kootu came to my mind.This appala kootu goes well with kara kuzhambu or vatha kuzambu.









Ingredients

Appalam            4 -5 Nos

Onion                 1 No

Tomato              1 No

Green chilli        2 Nos

Channa Dal      1/4 cup

Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp

Sambar Powder   1 tbsp

Salt to taste


To Temper

Fennel seeds Powder             1 tsp

Mustard Seeds                       1 tsp

Curry Leaves                         2 Strands


Method

Pressure cook all above ingredients except appalam and 'To temper' item for 3 -4 hisses.

While cooking dal , deep fry the appalam and keep aside.

Once pressure gone, heat oil in pan add mustard seeds,Fennel seeds powder,once splutter add curry leaves and pour this mixture into cooked dal and veggie mixture.

Break the appalam and added it to the kootu.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
