Aval Payasam with Jaggery | Krishna Jayanthi Recipe

Aval payasam usually made during Krishna Jayanthi. This one is easy dessert recipe to serve to guest within in less time.I already posted Aval payasam  with sugar but traditionally made with jaggery during festival time.


Aval                               1/2 cup

Milk                               11/2 cup

Jaggery                           1/2 cup

Cardamom Powder       1tsp

Cashew                         5 - 6

Ghee                             1 tsp            

Heat ghee in a pan , fry cashew and keep aside. In a same pan add Aval and roast still color changes.

Boil the milk ,add Aval and cook till it get cooked.Add cardamom and switch off the flame

Powdered the jaggery, add to milk once it get cooled. Add cashew it to the Payasam and serve hot.


If you have impurities in jaggery , melt the jaggery with water and strain the impurities.

Add jaggery or jaggery syrup once cooled to milk. Otherwise the milk will curdle.
