Wheat Flour appam | Karthigai Deepam Special

This wheat flour sweet appam is a instant appam recipe made in less time. I already posted Maida Sweet Paniyaram which is deep fried one. To reduce the oil i used paniyaram pan to make this one. This can be a healthy snack for kids


Wheat Flour                    1 cup

Jaggery                           1/2 cup

Rice Flour                      2 tbsp

Banana                          1 small

Cardamom powder       1 No

Cooking Soda              a pinch

Salt                               a pinch

Oil for deep frying


In a pan heat jaggery with little amount of water.The water level should just immerse the jaggery.

Heat until it slightly thick.Remove from heat and strain for any impurities.

In a mixing bowl take wheat flour,rice flour,salt,banana and crush it with your hand.Mash the banana well. Then add jaggery syrup and required amount of water to get the batter to pouring consistency.

Now add cooking soda ,cardamom powder  and mix well.

Heat paniyaram pan , add little oil to each hole.Then spoon the batter to each hole. When bottom cooked flip it and cook on other side.

Appams are ready to serve. Serve it hot.
